Eliot's Book of Bookish Lists - POS packs and copy of The Penguin Modern Classics Book *SOLD OUT*!

Eliot's Book of Bookish Lists - POS packs and copy of The Penguin Modern Classics Book *SOLD OUT*!

We're excited to be working with Penguin Books to offer 50 library POS packs for Eliot's Book of Bookish Lists!

About the book

Who had birds called Death, Wigs and Spinach? How do you spell the noise of a door slamming? Whose working title was The Chronic Argonauts?

Henry Eliot - author, editor and insatiable bookworm - has ransacked the libraries and archives of world literature, compiling hundreds of bookish lists. This eclectic gallimaufry showcases his favourites: we witness the tragic ends of the Ancient Greek tragedians, learn the name of George Orwell's pet cockerel and rummage through Joan Didion's travelling bag; we consider the history of literary fart jokes, orbit the Shakespearean moons of Uranus and meet several pigs with wings. From the sublime to the ridiculous - and everything in between - Eliot's lists, recommendations and nuggets of trivia will delight, inspire and surprise anyone who loves reading.

Beautifully presented with supplementary maps and illustrations, Henry Eliot's Book of Bookish Lists is the essential gift for book-lovers.

Penguin Books have 50 packs available.

Each pack will include the following:

  • 1 bespoke bookmark
  • 1 bespoke postcard
  • 1 quiz booklet
  • Downloadable assets
  • Downloadable information about the author

Plus! 1 hardback copy of Henry Eliot's The Penguin Modern Classics Book for every order!

Place a free order by 1 December but they may sell out before this. Orders are strictly one pack per public library.

This is open to libraries only. If you order a pack, we do ask that you ensure the content is used in your libraries. If you place an order that isn't to a library address, it will be automatically filtered out.

Please note, if you do not include a library name and use a personal email address your order may be cancelled.

By ordering a pack you are committing to create a display and share photos on social media using using #BookofBookishLists and tagging @HenryEliot, @PenguinBooksUK and send feedback to Kimberley.Sheehan@readingagency.org.uk by 20 January.

The publisher will be dispatching your resources. They will receive a dispatch list with your contact name and work address (which you give) for delivery. They will only deliver the pack requested and the dispatch list will then be deleted after the packs have been sent.
